Zinnov has taken a pioneering initiative to formulate a guidance document for art in public spaces that would come in useful for organizations that wish to undertake projects in public spaces and don't know where to start. The document serves as a practical guide from concept to execution and maintenance of art in public spaces.
Post the launch of Zinnov's Public Spaces Initiative, a round-table discussion on the draft guidance document was organized in Zinnov's Bengaluru office on 21st August 2024. It comprised urban planners, designers, architects, artists, museums, organizations that were aggregators for public art projects, and corporate representatives with similar interests in incorporating art in public spaces. The enlightening discussion validated the format of the document and drew attention to some other aspects that could be included in the policy document. The group unanimously agreed on the crucial requirement for a guidance document to make art in public spaces a reality.
This comprehensive guidance document aims to establish standards for high-quality, accessible public spaces while optimizing available resources. It sets out clear principles and guidelines for the design and management of public spaces, helping organizations engage local communities with their immediate environments. The document serves as a go-to resource for anyone interested in public art projects, providing practical steps for efficient execution and a framework for best practices. It helps establish valuable partnerships and other essential references for resource planning. By empowering communities with management-related skills and providing detailed implementation guidelines, this document bridges the gap between concept and successful execution of public art initiatives.
